Further afield

Feeling more adventurous? There is even more to explore within and an hour or two's drive. Take a day trip from Azille and find a wide range of sights and activities within striking distance, even a visit to Spain or the Pyrenees Mountains.

North / North West

To the north there are day trip options including the further reaches of the Montagne Noire and national park area. Further north / north west are places including Castres (71km); the lovely town of Albi (115km) with the Toulouse Latrec museum; picturesque Gaillac (125km); and the attractions of the Tarn region.

West / South West

Going west and south west will take you to Carcassonne and beyond to such places of interest as Saint-Hilaire (47Km); Limoux (62km) - picturesque town famous for its sparkling wine; Castelnaudary (74km) - the home of cassoulet; Mirepoix (85km) - a picturesque Bastide town; Montségur (113km) - a spectacular Cathar fortress ; Foix (119km) - picturesque town has a beautiful chateau; Toulouse (126km) - an historic and interesting university city; and beyond.

South / South East

There are many activities and places to see to the south and south west of Azille. Towns and areas of interest include Perpignan (94km); the area around the Spanish border following the Mediterranean coast  south for 100-170km; the Pyrénées mountains (good skiing); Andorra (254km) - skiing and duty free; and around 3 hours drive from Azille is Barcelona (284km), which is a popular travel destination and has an international airport for long-haul flights to and from around the world.

East / North East

To the east/north east the Mediterranean beach at Narbonne Plage is about 50km (40 min drive), and there are many towns and sights of interest in the Herault and Tarn Departments, including Montpellier (127km) - a picturesque historical city; Nimes (175km) with its many Roman remains; Alès (215km); and some highly scenic countryside and many other smaller towns and villages to explore. Azille is also within striking distance of Provence to the north east, with a large number of places of interest including Arles (199km); the Roman aqueduct at Pont du Gard (201km); Avignon (215km); and Orange (225km).
